Roles, design, and the nature of CSCL

چکیده

In this article, I argue that roles are a key construct for CSCL that demonstrate the interdisciplinary strengths of CSCL as a field. CSCL is a problem-driven field with a history of incorporating different paradigms, and has the advantage of using a design stance to understand phenomena like collaboration and learning that are difficult to study. Roles are understood differently by different disciplines, but the concept of roles serves as a boundary object between the different disciplines within CSCL and highlights potential areas for research. 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Towards adaptable interaction analysis tools in CSCL

Interaction analysis has become a basic function in the field of collaborative learning as a means for supporting evaluation processes. These processes can benefit from the use of automatic or semi-automatic interaction analysis tools. If these tools considered the different roles implied in the analysis processes, this could permit to exploit the results of the analysis in function of who is t...

Examining the Roles of Blended Learning Approaches in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) Environments: A Delphi Study

In this study, a Delphi method was used to identify and predict the roles of blended learning approaches in computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) environments. The Delphi panel consisted of experts in online learning from different geographic regions of the world. This study discusses findings related to (a) pros and cons of blended learning approaches in CSCL; (b) blended learning f...

Half-metallic properties of KP compound in a bulk and (001) surface of rock-salt structure: A b-initio study

Given the many applications of half-metals in the spintronics devices, we investigated the half-metallic properties of the KP compound in rock-salt (RS) and cesium chloride (CsCl) structural phases by using density functional theory. The results indicated that the KP compound as the half-metal in the RS structure, in contrast to the CsCl structure, due to the small lattice constant and failure ...

Computer Supported Collaborative Learning and Social Creativity: A Case Study of Fashion Design

There is an increasing volume of literature theorizing on how social creativity can be fostered in the Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) environment, however, a scant amount of research has been actually carried out to investigate how the dynamics and creative cognitive processes taking place in the CSCL environment create communities of design. The scarcity of readily usable ins...

Emerging and scripted roles in computer-supported collaborative learning

Emerging and scripted roles pose an intriguing approach to analysing and facilitating CSCL. The concept of emerging roles provides a perspective on how learners structure and self-regulate their CSCL processes. Emerging roles appear to be dynamic over longer periods of time in relation to learners’ advancing knowledge, but are often unequally distributed in ad hoc CSCL settings, e.g. a learner ...
